Although teachers usually shy away from using wikis in the classroom, it’s actually a great way to get students engaged. It allows students to work together and allows them to be the author, editor and consumer. Since it lets students collaborate and share information it would be a good tool to use for students doing group projects, or even using it as a classroom website.
In my future classroom I could use wiki applications in a similar way as this assignment. I could give students a term or subject from the unit we are studying and have them research it and put what they’ve found on the wiki page for the rest of the class to use. Or, I could use a wiki as a resource for the class and post relevant information pertaining to what I’m teaching, as well as posting study hints for exams or tests. 3/10/16
